Frequently Asked QuestionsQ. Where are there parks around the lake, and what are their hours and fees? A. All parks around Canyon Lake are owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. You can get a full listing of facilities, prices, and hours at their website, http://swf67.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/canyon/homepage.htm Q. What is the
current status of the boat ramps around the lake? A. Boat ramps close at all different water levels. Please see our map page and click on the Boat Ramp map which lists closing elevations. Also, click on our lake level tab to see current lake elevation. Q. Where should I go on the river if I want to tube for 2, 5, 8 hours, etc.? A. Go to our Visitor Info tab. This will list all WORD permitted businesses around the lake and river, and give phone numbers, websites, etc for each. Tailor-making your recreation experience is something the outfitters, lodgers, guides, and other businesses are experts on, so just give some of them a call with your specific questions. Q. Is the river high enough that I won’t have to walk? A. Again, individual outfitters would be best equipped to answer these questions. However, even during low flow periods, there are sections of the Guadalupe that are plenty deep enough to float without walking. Q. What do my WORD taxes go towards? A. WORD fees, collected by businesses from the public users of our water, are turned around to pay for law enforcement, river, lake, and road cleanup, and many other things within the WORD district. Q. What exactly is the WORD district? A. WORD encompasses all the unincorporated portions of Comal County. This includes the entire County except for New Bruanfels, Bulverde, and Garden Ridge. |
